The Story behind L’Isolabella

It was in the year 2000 that the dream of designing exclusive lifestyle experiences in Sicily first took shape, and Isolabella was born.

At the time, there were no local operators dedicated to creating luxury travel experiences for discerning international travellers. In many ways, we were the new, the unusual and perhaps the brave. From a tiny one-room office in Catania, we obtained our full tour operator license and began to shape what would become our own niche in Mediterranean luxury travel.

Today our office is still not particularly large — and that is exactly how we like it. Remaining a boutique company allows us to maintain a truly personal relationship with our clients and partners. While our roots remain firmly in Sicily, our locally based team now works across several regions of Italy and Malta, destinations we proudly call home as well.

A large part of our work takes place on the road: exploring our destinations, discovering remarkable places, testing every experience we recommend and building long-lasting relationships with the people behind them. It is one of the most enjoyable parts of what we do.

Of course, much of the work happens behind the scenes. Designing exceptional journeys requires passion, dedication, attention to detail, flexibility and integrity. Every itinerary we create reflects this commitment.

We are also the first to know that perfection is not a fixed point. Occasionally something may not meet expectations, and when that happens we take responsibility and learn from it. After all, travel — like life — is made by people.

Over the years, our reputation has been shaped by the travellers who have trusted us. Designing journeys that reflect their passions and exceed their expectations is what motivates us every day. Their curiosity constantly challenges us to go further and discover more.

We see ourselves as experience designers. Travel is about following passions, discovering new perspectives and collecting moments that become part of our personal story.

Meet the Founder

For more than 25 years, Doriana Briguglio has been designing luxury journeys, lifestyle experiences and events across Sicily and the Mediterranean.

Born and raised in Sicily, with Maltese roots running through her family, Doriana has always felt a natural connection with the wider Mediterranean world. This cultural heritage inspires the philosophy behind every journey created by Isolabella.

Constantly travelling between Sicily, Malta and the destinations she explores across the Mediterranean, she is always discovering new places, nurturing local relationships and shaping experiences that reflect the spirit of each destination.

A passionate wine lover and professional sommelier, Doriana is a member of AIS – Associazione Italiana Sommelier and holds a WSET certification, bringing her expertise to many of the wine and culinary experiences designed by Isolabella.
