Located on a peak overhanging the sea the Metropole Maison d’Hôtes rises in the ancient heart of Taormina, the only 5* hotel along Corso Umberto, the main street.
Originally a historical hotel, the building was built in the XVII century and it has marked the gold age of the Sicilian belle époque. At the beginning of the XX century the hotel took the name Metropole and kept it until the 1971, year in which it closed down.
After more than 40 years of silence the historical Metropole opens again his doors to its guests in its new magnificent flavour, the right balance between contemporary design and classical elegance.
The wise renovations have be able to show up the original architectural elements and to dig up not only some pieces of priceless value – like the ancient marble of the main stairs, the original plasters and the noble heights of the ceilings – but also the legendary and mythological atmosphere of which this place is drenched.  The sophisticated atmosphere and the amazing view on the bay of Giardini Naxos you enjoy entering the lobby will enchant you at first sight.

The  Metropole Maison d’Hôtes offers 23 rooms divided into:

Comfort rooms
Warm, quiet and comfortable, the comfort rooms overlook Corso Umberto, the historical street which goes, like a small artery, along the heart of the city. They are provided with king bed and all the comforts which could be desired.

Deluxe rooms
Here, you will enjoy a view which is difficult to imagine to see. Refined interiors, precious materials, every comfort is available.

SPA & Deluxe Junior Suite rooms
The Deluxe Junior Suites are visibly inspired from the magnificence of a place which characterizes the Sicilian Dolce Vita. Vaguely aristocratic atmospheres, always extremely accurate. They are arranged in two levels, with wide space, with the entry on the upper floor, where a living room will render everyday moments special.
In the intimate Terrace SPA, arranged in one level, you will have the possibility to get inebriated from the jets of the panoramic Jacuzzi, which is located on the terrace, surrounded by an enchanting landscape, the ideal frame for healthy and relaxing moment. The view overlooking the sea and the frontal horizon will give you the sensation of being suspended between the sea and the sky, between reality and a dream.

Deluxe & Design Suite rooms
Crossing the threshold, different many-sided and surprising spaces. Arranged in two levels,  our Design Suites are divided into a living room and a bedroom. Each floor is provided with a bathroom. The accurate care for the interiors made the harmony of two separated spaces. The living room, which is provided with all the comforts, will permit to celebrate unforgettable moments of real Sicilian magic. Among crystals and soft nuances, precious marbles and fine fabrics, you will feel shrouded, overcome and enchanted. From the wide windows and balconies, the view on the marvelous gulf, on Capo Taormina and the sea.
Our Design Suites are also divided in two levels, the living room has sofas and armchairs by FRAU, the bathroom has shower or tube. Each suite is different, for example you will find a beautiful round bed in the middle of the bedroom or a black marble tube in the living room with sea view.

Metropole Suite
The master suite of Metropole offers an incredible view on Taormina: the coastline and the Greek Theatre in the distance, all you have to do is change window and lose your mind in the infinity of the sea. The interiors of this suite are furnished with soft FRAU leather sofas, a romantic fireplace and a fabulous bed custom made. The Metropole Suite is provided with any kind of extra luxury comfort including a big salle de bain completely covered with white marble where you will find a particular oval shaped bath tub and a big shower with different kinds of flushes to achieve moments of precious relax.

The hotel Bellevue Restaurant is the home of the The menu of the  Michelin Star famous Chef Andreas Zangerl who looks for selected products and for typical recipes and thanks to his creativity he creates new unforgettable haute cuisine flavours with a strong attention for quality and innovation.
The wine list includes the best Italian and international etiquettes hosted in the wine cellars of the hotel while the most rare spirits can be enjoyed also at Metropole Lounge which reaches the top of his allure during the sunset when the terrace becomes magical and everybody is carried in a timeless dimension.

The SPA is located in the most ancient part of the hotel, dating back to the XV century.
Hammam, Jacuzzi, emotional shower, posarium and heated couchs done in molten rock mesh together and develop following the centuries-old stone which opens the sight to the blue of the sea through beautiful geometries.
Two ancient and invaluable columns dating back to the Greek period, placed here by Biagio De Spuches the famous archeologist who lived at Metropole and used the hotel and the home also for his private collection, are the modern frame of the Turkish bath.

The panoramic pool is the perfect place to relax and sunbathe drinking a cocktail prepared in the pool-bar.

Guy The Maupassant wrote in 1885: “If somebody would spend only one day in Sicily and ask what it is worthy to see, I would surely say with no hesitation: Taormina”.
So, Taormina is definitely still the star of the area joined by Mt Etna, set in the background, with its fiery beauty and its contrasts: green woods with a lunar landscape, red hot lava when erupting and white snow in winter. Mt Etna offers several nice villages to visit on the way to the Rifugio Sapienza (Nicolosi area) and Piano Provenzana (Linguaglossa area) from where you can get a cable car or an off-road bus to reach 3000 mt, close to the main crater! The coast of eastern Sicily washed by the blue of the Ionian Sea is just a few kilometers away, with Catania, Syracuse, Noto and Messina easy to be reached for a one day trip from the Metropole Maison d’Hôtes.

A beautiful beach with a private area is the surplus value that the hotel dedicates to all sea and sun lovers. The beach lounge bar offers delicious breakfasts, light lunch and aperitifs. The private beach transfer leads our guests directly to the sea side all day long.
