Day 1: Riposto
Independent arrival in Riposto, check in on board. Meet the crew and enjoy the beautiful panorama and the enchanting view of Mt Etna, the highest active vulcano in Europe sipping a glad of Etna doc sparkling wine.

Day 2: Riposto – Taormina – Giardini Naxos
Sailing northward to the port of Giardini Naxos. As the first Greek colony, this coastal village is the crib of ancient Mediterranean civilizations and at the same time a renowned tourist station. Along the promenade, series of typical restaurants and boutiques characterize the atmosphere of this town, a real postcard.
Land in Taormina for a shore excursion of the crown jewel of the tour that thanks to its great beauty patrimony has gained the title of “pearl of the Mediterranean sea”. Over the centuries, the magnificence of this small town has seduced innumerable poets and writers, attracted illustrious travelers, host internationally renowned celebrities. Visiting this strip of paradise on Earth, do not miss the visit to the Ancient Greek Theatre, an open window to the coast view; a walking full immersion throughout its medieval alleys; its breath-taking panoramas while tasting its excellent gastronomic soul. Day 3: Taormina – Panarea – Stromboli
Early sailing to the Aeolian Islands. First stop is the glamorous Panarea: here, you will surely notice its perfect combination of history, art, culture and modernity. Equally marvelous as the sea that flows through it, Panarea offers both festive elite atmospheres and absolute relax, far from frenetic and modern life. Late this day, head to Stromboli, one of the most active volcanos in Europe, magnificently erects in front of you with its high cliff interrupted by black sandy beaches and alternated by inlets and caves. An incredible volcano sinking into the sea that boils, producing a real suggestive unique show that reaches its top at night. Enjoy the “Sciara del fuoco” performance right from your yacht: red fire explosions and lapillus throwing will paint the starry sky. A real open-air spectacle, where the volcano shows all its strength!

Day 4: Stromboli – Lipari – sailing to Salina
Head to Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands. It certainly represents the right compromise between comfort, leisure and natural beauties. In addition to its panoramic allure, it preserves the whole Aeolian history by hosting the archeological museum with its 5000-year civility testimony.

Day 5: Salina – sailing to Cefalu
Salina, named as the “garden” of Aeolian Islands, is an ideal place where to taste culinary Aeolian traditions: capers and Malvasia wine, the so-called “nectar of the gods”. Explore this green paradise, visit the local wineries and taste the delicious granita at Alfredo’s.

Day 6: Cefalu – sailing to Palermo
Cefalù is one of the major tourist attractions in the region, pretty and picturesque with its beautiful streets, squares and fantastic sandy beach. The town is famous for its Norman Cathedral, built in 1131 by Roger II, king of Sicily, in a style of Norman architecture which would be more accurately called Sicilian Romanesque. The exterior is well preserved, and is largely decorated with interlacing pointed arches and  windows. In the interiors, the only mosaics preserved are those of the apse and the last bay of the choir; they are remarkably fine specimens of the Byzantine art of the period (1148) and the figure of the Pantocrator gracing the apse is especially noteworthy.
Thanks to its charming atmosphere, Cefalù was filmed in Guseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso.
Despite the crowd during summertime and holiday periods, its gorgeous architecture and atmospheric streets make it a lovely spot to strolling around. It is time to sail to Palermo to immerse into the history of culturally and artistically wealthy western Sicily.

Day 7: Palermo – Trapani overnight  sailing
Sicily’s capital is an energetic city of colors and contrasts. In the Middle Ages, Palermo was one of Europe’s leading cities, that is the reason why travellers exploring Sicily’s history cannot miss its several unmissable sights. Palermo boasts bohemian boutiques, famously-excellent street food, fine architecture and a lively atmosphere, which you can breathe in the legendary, chaotic and bustling markets. Do not miss overview of the city from the roof of the historic cathedral, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage list. The landscape is splendid, both for the details of the upper parts of the building itself and for the context, looking out over the city. One of Sicily’s most famous monuments is just a short ride from Palermo: the Norman cathedral of Monreale, famous for its architecture and the vast Byzantine-style mosaics which cover the interior.

Day 8: Trapani – Egadi tour – Marsala overnight sailing
Trapani port is strategically located both to unearth the inner parts of the city and to explore the Aegadi islands. If you decide to visit the city center, you will plunge into many different historical ages: from prehistoric era, passing through Hellenic civilities, straightly to Roman, Byzantine, Arabic and Norman cultures. In Trapani, titled as “the town between two seas” for its geographical position, monuments, churches, palaces characterize every corner of the city, telling its story throughout the centuries. The ancient walls of the city runs along the seafront, where the core of the town is located: the port. Not so far there is the fishing port, with typical boats owned by anglers continuing the job tradition handed down from one generation to another. The archipelago of the Egadi is located at the western end of Sicily, a few miles from Trapani, and is made up of the islands of Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo, the small island of Formica and the rock of Maraone. The Egadi islands are embedded in the beautiful crystal clear waters, and are home to a rich and varied flora and fauna. These features make this archipelago a popular destination for snorkeling enthusiasts, scuba diving and sailing. The natural beauty that characterize the waters of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo are also extended to the mainland. In fact, for those who love walking in nature, the Egadi show a rich vegetation where there are native plants with medicinal properties, while from the point fauna are of significant importance to the birds. In order to preserve the natural beauty of the archipelago, the Marine Protected Area  has recently been established, the largest marine reserve in Europe.

Day 9: Marsala – sailing to Porto Empedocle
Land in Marsala, built on the ruins of the ancient  Carthaginian city of Lilybaion, it includes in its territory the archaeological site of Motya island, an ancient Phoenician town. Historically famous for the for the docking of Garibaldi on 11 May 1860, Marsala is also famous for its homonymous Marsala wine.  A decisive period in Sicily wine history is 1773 when the English entrepreneur John Woodhouse landed at the port of Marsala and discovered the local wine aged in wooden casks which tasted similar to the Portuguese and Spanish fortified wines very popular in England at that time. He recognized that the in perpetuum process, similar to the solera system used to produce the Sherry in Spain, raised the alcohol level of the local wine thus preserving its characteristics during the long distance sea travel to England. Woodhouse’s genius proved to be successful and in 1796 he began the Marsala wine mass production and commercialization, soon followed by other English entrepreneurs, such as the Inghams and Whitakers, until the arrival of the Italian Vincenzo Florio towards the end of the 19th century. He bought up great portions of land to make his own vintage, purchased Woodhouse’s firm and consolidated the Marsala wine industry.

Day 10: Porto Empedocle – Ragusa overnight sailing
Porto Empedocle is your gateway to a travel to the past visiting the Valle dei Templi. Agrigento. It is a great thousand-year-old city, where you will find extraordinary archeological and architectonical treasures portrayed in a Greek sea and an enchanting nature. A charming destination where Arts, Culture and Nature coexist in a magical atmosphere stuck in a mythological time. The ancient “Akragas”, defined as “the greatest among mortal cities” was founded in the VII century and became in very few time one of the most flourishing cities of the Magna Grecia. Belonging to Unesco patrimony, is undoubtedly the most suggestive testimony of Greek civility in Sicily. Temples here rise surrounded by countryside, almond trees and flowers, pictured in an immortal scenario in this dreamlike corner of Mediterranean. After this wide dose of historical beauties, it is now time to head to Ragusa, also known as “The other Sicily”.

ncluded in the World Heritage UNESCO list Ragusa is one of the most important among Italian artistic cities, due to its variety of archeological and artistic wealth, inherit of multimillennial history. Originally erected on a steep hill, it was almost completely destroyed by an impressive earthquake in 1693. With its fascinating urbanistic structure, Ragusa Ibla is the core center of the city and its most attractive neighbor thanks to the numerous palaces and churches, massive expression of Sicilian Baroque. Unsubstituted scenario for literature, Ragusa is still today the most yearn cinematographic set in Sicily. This city will involve you into a swirling whirlwind of emotions and senses, through the discovery of the excellent typical products.

Day 12: Marzamemi – sailing to Siracusa
Heading towards the extreme point of Sicily, the enchanting panorama of Marzamemi will catch your eyes. Here, where Sicily and Africa meet, have a seat in one of the historical bars in the main seventeen-century little square: admire the surrounding palazzos, the Arabic courtyards and get lost into the exciting smell of the sea throughout the traditional fishermen’s little houses. Day 13: Siracusa at shore
Don’t miss the visit of Syracuse defined by Cicero “the biggest and the most beautiful among all Greek cities”. A Unesco World Heritage site for its archeological, artistic and monumental patrimony, a perfect summary of the Sicilian history. Explore the baroque heart of Ortigia, the Euryalus fortification, the Apollo Temple, the columns of the Athena Temple set inside the Baroque cathedral like precious stones, get absorbed into the enchanting atmosphere of the ancient Neapolis, the archaeological park where the Greek Theatre is placed: here, still today you can experience the magical tradition of classic tragedy performances. Day 14: Siracusa – Brucoli – Catania
Today sailing is northward to Brucoli and then in Catania to disembark. Independent departure.

Mt Etna is definitely one of the most exciting wine destinations worldwide.
The land around Mt Etna is a large area extending from the furthest slopes of the volcano to its peak. The cultivation grapevine has always played a fundamental role in the area. It dates back to several centuries ago and over the years has typical feature of this area, being a source of income to those inhabitants who have settled at the foothills of the volcano and symbolize the strong human determination to enhance a steep and wild soil which seems to be inapt to be exploited by man. The magnificent terracing realized with stone walls is only an example. These terraces are real works of art whose extraordinariness makes them rare in the world and admired both by Italian and foreign visitors.
The peculiar environment on Mt Etna that mixes the particular climate to the nature, altitude and exposure of the soil has as result the production of special wines.

Nerello Mascalese is the most prized grape in this area. It is late-ripening (harvested in mid-October) with large clusters, large berries, thin skins and is thought to have arrived from ancient Greece, brought to Italy along the same route followed by the mythical hero Odysseus.
NerelloCappuccio is another important Etna variety and some experts believe it is genetically linked to Carignan.
White wines are made primarily from indigenous Carricante and Catarratto.
The d.o.c. wines of the area are: Etna Rosso e Rosato (Red and Rosé Etna) with no less than 80% of Nerello Mascalese and 20% of Nerello Cappuccio or Mantellato; Etna Bianco (White Etna) with a 60% minimum of Carricante and 40% of Cataratto;  Etna Bianco Superiore (Superior White Etna), produced in the territory of the municipality of Milo. The volcano hail further Sicilian and even foreign vines which seem to find in this rich soil a perfect setting for monovarietal or blended wines: Inzolia, Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Frappato, Grecanico andChardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Mondeuse, Syrah, Petit Verdot.

No other wine region in Italy is as exciting as Mt. Etna right now. In just a few years, the number of winemakers on the volcano has doubled. All the important Sicilian producers today are incomplete without an Etna component.

ITINERARY & PROGRAM

Day 1: Welcome to Malta – St Juliens
Arrival at Luqa International Airport. Meet & greet with your driver and English-speaking guide and transfer by private deluxe Mercedes to The Westing Dragonara Resort located in the lively area of St Julian’s. On your way to the hotel, you will enjoy a scenic drive along Sliema and Balluta Bay.
Check-in and accommodation at the hotel. Balance of the day at leisure to discover the area on your own.

Day 2: Argotti Gardens – Sa Maison – Hastings Gardens –  Barracca Gardens
Breakfast at the hotel. Initiate your tour from the public green beating heart of the island: Floriana and La Valletta. Argotti Gardens is the third most ancient Botanic Ort of the Commonwealth dating back to XVI century. Firstly divided into two properties, it was unified by the Bailiff Ignatius de Argote y Gusman, who is probably owed for its current name. In 1805 it became a Botanic Ort, where medicinal herbs and plants were already growing. From 1855 on, the garden has been headed by Malta University administration, becoming a very important center of education and scientific research.
Nowadays the garden hosts oaks, oleanders shrubs, potted plants and cacti, both indigenous and foreign together with fountains, ponds and water towers. Due to its high location on Floriana bastions, the surprising spot of this green area is its unexpected view right over Marsamxett Harbour, Mdina and Verdala Castle.
Built by Chevalier Caille Maison in the mid-18th century, Sa Maison Gardens shows a fantastic view over Marsamxetto Port. Once a shooting lodge, its military heritage is still visibly incised into the walls surrounding the garden. Small but pretty and pleasantly adorned, it extends over five levels, hosting several varieties of local flora, tall palm trees and several potted plants.
A curious legend, outcome of the “hard worker” Maltese stereotype, is about the 4-hour-construction of Hastings Gardens. Dedicated to Lord Hastings, a former British Governor of Malta, the garden is situated on the bastions, in a neoclassical structure. The estate offers a suggestive view on the Manoel Island and Mside Creek.
While walking along Valletta take a glimpse of St John’s Co-Cathedral, adorned in riches that date back to the Knights of Malta including the world famous Caravaggio painting that is on display in the Oratory of this Cathedral. Don’t miss the Church Museum that is adorned with Flemish tapestries and also the view from the outside the Grand Master’s Palace and other buildings of historical importance.
Have your time to visit Barracca Gardens, the most famous gardens in Valletta. Who can blame it? Just imagine how suggestive the panoramic landscapes of the Grand Port and the Three Cities may be, especially at sunset, when thousands of color shades will inebriate your eyes. (B)

Day 3: Chinese Garden of Serenity – Hypogeum – Marsaxlokk – Victoriosa/Cospicua/Sanglea
Breakfast at the hotel. Today live your day in the pursuit of relax and “serenity”.
Inaugurated at the end of ‘90s, Chinese Garden of Serenity in Santa Lucija is one of the most modern gardens in Malta.
Enjoy a quiet oasis that for a moment will lead you far away from hustle and bustle. Here, little Chinese gardens communicate through zig-zag paths, with stones and bodies of water conferring a peaceful sensation.
Continue your tour to the silent Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, an incredible structure more than 5 thousands year-old. It is an underground complex built between 3600 and 2400 b.C.
Rooms, corridors and dwellings entirely excavated in the rock whit different époques interlacing. The extraordinary characteristic of the building is the magnificent result obtained only by using rudimental and ancient tools.
Proceed to a typical lunch in the idyllic fishing village of Marsaxlokk to admire the waterfront lined with luzzus painted in traditional colors that add color to this serene bay once site of landings by both the Turkish and French troops during Malta’s heroic past. Here we are in the less touristic part of the island, a perfect requisite to get aware of real inhabitants’ life. No traffic, no malls, only rurality and an incredible perfume of authenticity. Celebrity for its autochthonous fish market, taste the freshness of products in one of the local restaurants right near the port, to experience the tradition of food from the sea right to your table.
On your way to the hotel, you will also have an orientation tour of the historical area known as the three cities: Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea.
Discover the maritime history of the island. You will find little alley with windows, doors and colorful terraces alternating with older corners all to be admired, where you can find out real local traditions. Breathe the history of these streets. The mystery will embrace you and the curiosity of exploring will become an impellent desire. (B)

Day 4: Hagar Qim – Buskett Gardens – Mdina
Breakfast at the hotel. For those who love prehistory, Malta is a real paradise.
Hagar Qim temples have always been a mystery, both for its origins and function. Located in a very unusual position, quite close to the sea, it overlooks the nearby Filfla island. The particularity of this site is that during solstice and equinox it is crossed by sunrays beaming through a hole on the temple wall, known as the “Oracle Hole”.  
The Buskett Gardens in Siggiewi are a real wood in Malta where conifers and fruit trees interchange.
Deeply loved by Maltese, Buskett Gardens were the first public garden of the island. Lascaris Great Master projected them near the Verdala Place, conceiving these gardens as a hunting field.
Abundant in trees species like Mediterranean pine, they also host vines, orange groves, olive trees hectares and lemon trees.
To end properly this “past tour” day, experience an excursion to Mdina. Erected on the top of the rough hill in the center of Malta, since at first sight, this ancient capital of Malta reveals itself in all its beauty, majesty and elegance. Well-known as the “Silent city”, due to its quiet and solitary atmosphere, it is impossible not be fascinated by the surreal peace of this antique city, full of traditions and guardian of legends, secrets and endless memories. Day 5: Palazzo Parisio – President’s Kitchen Garden – Villa Bologna – San Anton
Breakfast at the hotel. Dedicate this day to visit the most prominent historical gardens in Malta.
Palazzo Parisio is a beautiful private palazzo of XIX century situated in Naxxar, boasting a delicious Italian style garden. Here exotic and Mediterranean plants, citrus groves, hibiscus and Bougainville dominate.
Classically baroque in style, palazzo Parisio shows up like a singular beauty, testimony of the aspirations of a noble Maltese family in XIX century.
Bright, colorful, good smelling, the gardens are an excellent evidence of Italian garden combined with fruitful cultural trade between Malta and South Italy.
San Anton Gardens once used as a harvest area by the Knights of Malta, it is now part of San Anton Palace, the official residence of The President of Malta Republic.
San Anton Gardens boast the title as the most beautiful gardens in Malta, edified in XVII century as a Baroque masterpiece and green sanctuary of tranquility. They are located right in the core of the island, combining a fascinating and unmissable mix of arts and natural beauties. The gardens host palm trees, cypresses, araucaria and conifers.
The President’s Kitchen Garden in Attard also belongs to San Anton Palace providing it with vegetables since the 16th century. House for animals such as donkeys, ponies, goats and other smaller animals, the garden now is a fanciful setting for relaxing getaways, mostly when magic warm shades blaze the entire garden late in the afternoon.
The entrance to the Kitchen Garden is sited just a stone’s throw to Villa Bologna, one of the most remarkable examples of a historic Maltese garden. The ‘old garden’, known also as ‘baroque garden’ was erected beside the main house in the 18th century. Its striking landscapes have astonished visitors since 1747, when it was created following a regular and symmetrical structure. (B)

Day 6: Gozo: Kenuna Garden – winery – Victoria
Breakfast at the hotel. The last day holds a special visit to the smaller sister of Malta: Gozo.
Once disembarked, the first stop is Kenuna Garden, the small botanical garden surrounding the namesake tower. It was built up in Nadur hill in 1848, with the aim to telegraphically connect Gozo and Malta and transmit signals and messages to boats sailing its waters. Proceed to lunch at a local winery to stroll around the estate and tour the vineyard, finding out autochthonous methods of wine production.
In the afternoon don’t miss the visit to the Ggantija Temples, the citadel in Victoria, the bay of Xlendi, and the Azur Window at Dwejra. Proceed to Victoria, the capital of Gozo officially known as Ir-Rabat. It embraces both the citadel, ancient fortified town at the center of the island and the surrounding old Rabat town and its modern integrations. A visit to the citadel is a must: its impressive fortifications offer a superb view on the whole island, boasting many historical sites. (B, L)

The incessant sequence of dominations in Sicily left in the lands of Terre Sicane, a piece of Sicily located in the ultimate wetern part of the island between the districts of Agrigento and Trapani, a rich social and cultural context and a splendor heritage made of archaeological sites and settlements and a fascinating tradition of food and wine. An extraordinary biodiversity and a gorgeous natural context characterized by a mild climate and agricultural innovations inherited by many populations in the past: for his Terre Sicane is called “The Golden Triangle” of Sicilian wine growing. Infinite waves of vineyards draw the landscape, offering to the visitor a great opportunity to discover millennial wine growing tradition of the Belice Valley. In this area vines include traditional varieties like Nero d’Avola, Catarratto and Inzolia, and also international grapes such as Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet.
With great dedication and passion this is a land where young winemakers and historical wineries have made an important contribution to the high quality of Sicilian wines all over the world. This is the case of the two wineries included in our visit in the Menfishire wine district which is part of Terre Sicane area.
Settesoli was founded in 1958 by a group of forward thinking farmers who were willing to fight the severe economic crisis which spread throughout the territory. Today Cantine Settesoli has 2,000 partners, a 6,000-hectare vineyard area (almost 5% of all Sicilian vineyards), three cellars dedicated to wine making, an annual production close to 50,000 tons of grapes, and a packing and storage plant. Settesoli is the largest Sicilian vine growing and wine making company, the largest vineyard in Europe and a well-established wine district in the province of Agrigento: 70% of the 5,000 families living in Menfi, Montevago and Santa Margherita di Belìce are involved in the activity of SettesoliSettesoli wines were  originally sourced from Sicilian grape varieties typical of the Mediterranean region, like the Grecanico, the Inzolia and the Nero d’Avola. The range  was later enriched by importing vines like the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. These new varieties were soon producing outstanding wines, allowing us to shift them over to a large scale cultivation. Mandrarossa are the top range wines by Settesoli. These wines are made  by selecting the best grapes, ripened by the intense brightness of the sun and an exceptionally mild climate. Among the many quality wines made in Sicily nowadays, the Mandrarossa wines stand out as fine examples of the winemaking art and tradition on the Island.
Cantine Barbera is represents the other side of Menfishire, a boutique winery where Marilena owner and vigneron rules according to three simple principles: organic farming, natural winemaking and environmental management. Vineyards extends very close to the sea enjoying mild winters, warm dry summers and amazing temperature ranges between night and day. At Cantine Barbera you can find the Inzolia grape, planted in the early 20’s as well as international grapes Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon planted about 30 years ago. Then Marilena’s choice: Perricone, Nerello, Alicante, Nero d’Avola, Grillo. Wines at Cantina Barbera reflect her personality and her thoughts.
In addition to all of these wine what you can find in Menfishire is food, great food: excellent products, from extra virgin olive oil to cheeses made with sheep’s milk, from fruits to the produce of the vegetable gardens (especially artichokes and tomatoes) to fresh caught fish.

In a trip to the Aeolian islands around the second half of 18th century Alexander Dumas’ father, a French man of refined taste wrote: “… a bottle of Malvasia delle Lipari was brought, it was the most excellent wine I had ever tasted in my life …” the Malvasia is undoubtedly one of the most typical of the products made in the Aeolian islands, specifically on the island of Salina.
From a distance Salina looks entirely green with two rounded high mountains and a smooth coastline. More than 400 different types of plants grow here, including the cultivation of grapes, olives and capers. The mountainsides of the island are covered with ferns, poplars, chestnut trees and typical Mediterranean vegetation covered with caper bushes, prickly per cactus and a variety of orchards, olive groves and vineyards. It’s in this vineyards where the Malvasia wine is produced, a wine of such high quality and excellence to be named the “nectar of the gods, appreciated and exported all over the world. You can not visit Salina and leave without having first tasted the Malvasia, a DOP Sicilian wine made from Malvasia delle Lipari grape (95%) and Black Corinth (5%). Malvasia is golden in colour and has an intense, delicately sweet bouquet which matches perfectly with cheese, fois gras, ice-creams and desserts. There are two types of Malvasia delle Lipari DOC: passito and natural. It is a volcanic wine, thick, sugary, golden… » as the French novelist Guy de Maupassant wrote in «A Wandering Life».

We will visit two two excellent wineries, different in size and history, both of great quality.

Our first winey is named after his founder Carlo Hauner, originally a painter and designer from Brescia, he moved to the island with a passion for winemaking. He arrived in Saline back in 1963 and decided to move to the island in the ‘70s attracted by the cultivation of Malvasia a grape which local farmers harvest the second half of September and sun-dry for two weeks or so on mats making the famous Passito delle Lipari. According to the traditional method the grapes are exposed out on the trellies and taken in at the sunset. Hauner learned the local winemaking techniques and integrated them with modern standards. He put together twenty hectares of plots of lands, restoring the ancient terraces and vineyards and introduced innovations such as withering the grapes on the vine and cooling techniques during fermentation. The new winery was built during the ‘80s in the typical Aeolian style and its inauguration coincided with a rising interest towards the Malvasia among critics, journalists and media, world-wide wine enthusiasts. Today the winery is led by Carlo’s son Carlo junior with a production of about 50.000 bottles of Malvasia in its two versions naturale and passito. Labels on his wine and caper packaging are illustrated by Carlo Hauner’s paintings, inspired by the Eolian colours and architecture.

Then, we will visit the vineyards and listen to the history of a famous Sicilian noble family who made the history of wine in Sicily. Thirty years ago they bought 15 acres at Capofaro to plant Malvasia and produce the famous nectar of the gods in its sweet version as well as in its dry version.
Lunch will be a journey through the Made in Sicily products including home cooked dishes using traditional recipes from stories inherited with the goal to tell the story of the territory and of the soul of the family.

Day 1: Malta – Valletta
Independent arrival in Malta, afternoon boarding in Valletta area. Explore Valletta (optional excursion).The Fortress City, renowned to be “built by gentlemen for gentlemen” is Malta’s capital city. Busy by day, this city retains a timeless atmosphere by night that gives the feeling of a walking back in time. Boasting some of Europe’s finest art works, churches and palaces, Valletta is brimming with history, splendid Baroque architecture, squares and alleys, museums and bastions. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Valletta also hosts two notable Caravaggio masterpieces both displayed in the Saint John’s Cathedral. 

Day 2:  Gozo – Comino – Mdina by night
Sailing to Gozo, the “little sister” of the bigger Malta, is a real escape from routine. Its name meaning “joy” is exactly the feeling that this paradisiac and peaceful island produces. Take your time to appreciate blue sky, azure sea, unique picturesque coastal views and a priceless uncontaminated nature; you may choose to taste a piece of the Mediterranean culinary heart in one of the local attractive sea view trattorias.
Sail to Comino the smallest inhabited island of the Maltese archipelago with a grand total of 4 permanent inhabitants. Comino is famed for its Blue Lagoon, which offers crystal clear waters for swimming in and Santa Maria Tower built by the Knights of St. John to secure the island from corsair pirates, now in use as a museum.
Back at shore, you may decide for an evening shore excursion to Mdina. Erected on the top of the rough hill in the center of Malta, since at first sight, this ancient capital of Malta reveals itself in all its beauty, majesty and elegance. Day 3: On sail to Siciliy: Marzamemi – Syracuse
Your landing to the Sicilian coast will follow an astonishing sail through the Malta/Sicily Channel: an intense route with a very long history incised in its waves. While enjoying the crossing, just imagine the Ottoman Empire pirates, the Romans fleets cutting through this sea. Heading towards the extreme point of Sicily, the enchanting panorama of Marzamemi will catch your eyes. Here, where Sicily and Africa meet, have a seat in one of the historical bars in the main seventeen-century little square: admire the surrounding palazzos, the Arabic courtyards and get lost into the exciting smell of the sea throughout the traditional fishermen’s little houses. History, culture and natural beauties here are the main ingredients of this fascinating small village, which is still able to seduce sun, sea and quiet lovers’ souls.

Day 4: Syracuse – sailing to Riposto
Don’t miss the visit of Syracuse (optional) defined by Cicero “the biggest and the most beautiful among all Greek cities”. A Unesco World Heritage site for its archeological, artistic and monumental patrimony, a perfect summary of the Sicilian history. Explore the baroque heart of Ortigia, the Euralio fortification, the Apollo Temple, the columns of the Athena Temple set inside the Baroque cathedral like precious stones; get absorbed into the enchanting atmosphere of the ancient Neapolis, the archaeological park where the Greek Theatre is placed: here, still today you can experience the magical tradition of classic tragedy performances. Sail to Riposto, a very small town that halfway between Catania and Taormina with its port at the feet of the Mt Etna, the giant active volcano.

Day 5: Catania – Etna – Giardini Naxos
Today at shore, it is time to explore Catania highlights, the liveliest city of the island. As the curdle of the Baroque in Sicily, admire its historical and archaeological patrimony, churches and palaces. Perfectly immersed in this unique setting, don’t miss the visit to the fish market, nominated World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Placed in the bowel of the most ancient neighbor it is a must-see to discover the authentic folklore that animates the city for centuries.
You may decide to continue your tour to explore the Mt Etna, where fire eruptions and blue sky intertwine to give you a unique spectacle. Here where nature mixes colors, fertile lands are imbued with the fragrance of local wines, which you will be able to taste in one of the top wineries at the bottom of its sides.

Night sailing to Giardini Naxos, which is your next step. Day 6: Taormina – sailing to Aeolian Islands

Day 7: Aeolian Islands – Stromboli at night with Sciara del Fuoco
At your own choice, don’t miss a shore excursion to some of the seven little gems volcanically originated in the sea: Vulcano is the first, where the namesake volcano dominates the island and protects it like an ancient guardian, character inherited by the fascinating Greek and Roman mythology. Moving to Panarea you will surely notice its perfect combination of history, art, culture and modernity. Equally marvelous as the sea that flows through it, Panarea offers both festive elite atmospheres and absolute relax, far from frenetic and modern life. Day 11: Amalfi/Positano/Ravello

Its city center is considered as a living museum since it preserves, evidentially untouched, architectonical and urbanistic testimony of its past. Day 12: Sorrento

Day 1: Malta – Valletta
Independent arrival in Malta, afternoon boarding in Valletta area. Explore Valletta (optional excursion). The Fortress City, renowned to be “built by gentlemen for gentlemen” is Malta’s capital city. Busy by day, this city retains a timeless atmosphere by night that gives the feeling of a walking back in time. Boasting some of Europe’s finest art works, churches and palaces, Valletta is brimming with history, splendid Baroque architecture, squares and alleys, museums and bastions. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, Valletta also hosts two notable Caravaggio masterpieces both displayed in the Saint John’s Cathedral. 

Day 2:  Gozo – Comino – Mdina by night
Sailing to Gozo, the “little sister” of the bigger Malta, is a real escape from routine. Its name meaning “joy” is exactly the feeling that this paradisiac and peaceful island produces. Take your time to appreciate blue sky, azure sea, unique picturesque coastal views and a priceless uncontaminated nature; you may choose to taste a piece of the Mediterranean culinary heart in one of the local attractive sea view trattorias.
Sail to Comino the smallest island of the Maltese archipelago with a grand total of 4 permanent inhabitants. Comino is famed for its Blue Lagoon, which offers crystal clear waters for swimming in and Santa Maria Tower built by the Knights of St. John to secure the island from corsair pirates, now in use as a museum.

Heading towards the extreme point of Sicily, the enchanting panorama of Marzamemi will catch your eyes. Day 5: Catania – Etna – Giardini Naxos
Today at shore, it is time to explore Catania highlights, the liveliest city of the island. As the cradle of the Baroque in Sicily, admire its historical and archaeological patrimony, churches and palaces. Perfectly immersed in this unique setting, don’t miss the visit to the fish market, nominated World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Placed in the bowel of the most ancient neighbor it is a must-see to discover the authentic folklore that animates the city for centuries.
You may decide to continue your tour to explore the Mt Etna, where fire eruptions and blue sky intertwine to give you a unique spectacle. Moving to Panarea you will surely notice its perfect combination of history, art, culture and modernity. Equally marvelous as the sea that flows through it, Panarea offers both festive elite atmospheres and absolute relax, far from frenetic and modern life. Proceed to Lipari, the biggest among Aeolian Islands. It certainly represents the right compromise between comfort, leisure and natural beauties. Palermo boasts bohemian boutiques, famously-excellent street food, fine architecture and a lively atmosphere, which you can breathe in the legendary, chaotic and bustling markets. Do not miss overview of the city from the roof of the historic cathedral, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage list. The landscape is splendid, both for the details of the upper parts of the building itself and for the context, looking out over the city. One of Sicily’s most famous monuments is just a short ride from Palermo: the Norman cathedral of Monreale, famous for its architecture and the vast Byzantine-style mosaics which cover the interior.

Day 10: Trapani – Segesta/Erice – Agrigento
Trapani port is strategically located both to unearth the inner parts of the city and to explore the ancient treasure villages of Segesta and Erice. 
If you may decide to visit the city center, you will plunge into many different historical ages: from prehistoric era, passing through Hellenic civilities, straightly to Roman, Byzantine, Arabic and Norman cultures. In Trapani, titled as “the town between two seas” for its geographical position, monuments, churches, palaces characterize every corner of the city, telling its story throughout the centuries. The ancient walls of the city runs along the seafront, where the core of the town is located: the port. Not so far there is the fishing port, with typical boats owned by anglers continuing the job tradition handed down from one generation to another.
the other choice you may take is to travel back in time visiting Segesta and Erice.
Segesta is an historical city uninhabited by now, founded by Elymians. Peculiar beauties are the Doric Temple, among the most intact monuments from Antiquity, which rises on a hill framed by Monte Bernardo and Monte Barbaro, and the Theatre, partly dug into the rock of the hill. Proceed to Erice. If its origins seem to fade away through the fog of the time, walking along the little cobblestones alleys of the medieval ancient village on the top of Saint Julien’s Mount, that same fog will let you discover signs, symbols and legends born here even before Punic and Romans erected a sanctuary dedicated to the Beauty and Love goddess. Visiting Erice means to get lost through fortifications, ancient churches, workshops, gardens and breath-taking landscapes towards Aegadian Islands, the Stagnone lagoon, the Saline and cultivated fields surrounding Trapani.
