Sicily wine resorts
A perfect Sicilian-French fusion. This is the atmosphere at Baglio di Pianetto, a winery relais belonging to the Count and the Countess Marzotto. Years ago, during one of their escapes in Sicily, the Count Paolo chose the territory of Pianetto, the countryside between Piana degli Albanesi and Santa Cristina Gela, belonging to the d.o.c. Monreale.
Situated in the countryside of Porto Palo di Menfi on the southwest coast of Sicily stands the superb new winery relais of the Planeta family – La Foresteria. Home to world famous wines, La Foresteria is located between Sciacca and the archaeological park of Selinunte, where the beaches are amongst Sicily’s most beautiful and the countryside is given over to vineyards and olive production.
Strategically positioned opposite the Ionian coast and the gulf between Catania and Taormina, with Mt Etna towering in the background, San Michele stands out majestically in the ravishing panorama. Its vineyards lay in terraces along the hill, forced by the morphology of the territory. This large estate belongs to one of the most important Sicilian noble families.
Virzì is a location which seems to be not of this world. Finding it may prove difficult, but once you arrive you’ll realise the trip was worth it.
Situated in the hilly area of contrada Virzi, within the Monreale district, between Palermo and Alcamo, the estate belongs to the aristocratic family of the Princes of Spadafora
